Keletso Rakumakoe
An outgoing and bold individual who loves to interact
with people. Born and bred in Pretoria, Soshanguve; Keletso Rakumakoe shares
his experiences of life.
Kopano Moeketsi: Where did you study and what are your
qualifications?
Keletso
Rakumakoe: I studied Marketing and
Advertising Management at Tshwane University of Technology, obtaining my B-Tech
KM: What is your job occupation and how do your feel
about your job?
KR: I work at Primedia Outdoor as a marketing assistant,
I love my job, it is a great start towards being the best marketing
practitioner. I am passionate about marketing and advertising so the love for
my job comes naturally.
KM: What are your likes and dislikes about your career
path?
KR: I like the challenging part of it, as there’s a lot
of key players each contributing something valuable to the marketing sphere, it
enables one to grow and makes one able to compete in international markets as
marketing is internationally integrated.
The downside of it is just that one must always be on
top of their game with current product inventions and developments but that is
what makes it so exciting. The other downside is that competition is rough; we
are fighting for the same market share, so keeping up with competitors is very
important.
KM: I know you used to work at Tshwane FM as a Deejay,
how was the experience?
KR: The experience was wonderful, my love for media
started there during my varsity years, it blended it well with what I was
studying because of subjects like communication. The world of radio makes one
so inquisitive, ultimately making one grow and curious to learn new things.
The other great thing about radio is the interaction
with people of different calibers and backgrounds, making the interaction more
exciting.
KM: What interests you when you are hanging with your
friends?
KR: I love challenging the status quo, love debating and
enjoy the dialogues I have with pioneers in my field to learn as much I can
from them.
KM: What are your short term goals?
KR: Short term goals include continuing my studies at
AAA to do a course in brand management and digital marketing, moving up the
ladder in my field in my company. I love networking with industry professionals
to gain more knowledge and experience.

KM: What makes you wake up every morning?
KR: I am motivated by my goals and my aspirations. In
all truthfulness, I would like to make my mother proud, so definitely hard work
should prevail. I am also motivated by
my goals to grow holistically as person and not just in my career.
KM: Except from what your job occupation is right now,
what else are you interested in doing?
KR: I’m interested in the mining sector, not only
because of its great return on investments but also it highlights the
importance of infrastructure in South Africa and beyond.
KM: How do you describe a normal day after a long hard
working week?
KR: A great lunch out with friends or family at one of
my favourite restaurant, shopping or relaxing at home catching up on my
favourite movies and series
KM: Any advice on how to work hard and play hard?
KR: I guess what one needs to do is prioritise their
time with their activity, highlight which one needs immediate attention and do
it and enjoy the rest of the day. Once
all your hard work is done then only then can you start playing hard.
PROCASTINATION SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL TIMES.
