Olympus has Fallen: Review

By Shernell Pather

Whether it is guns, weapons of mass destruction or even entering a war in which nuclear arms are about to cause massive destruction in the most developed country in the world, Olympus Has Fallen, is a film for those who want have a break from the same old boring movies they are used to.

Staring two of Hollywood’s A-lister’s, Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart, the film is set in Washington DC (finally – a film that isn't based in New York City). It tells a story of an ex secret service agent Mike Banning (Butler), who is banned from the agency after a traumatic incident while serving his post alongside the President of the United States of America (Eckhart).

The story takes off the minute the White House has come under attack by the terrorist. Banner finds himself being the last hope in ensuring that the President is taken to safety, not to mention trying to save the world from what could be the possibility of World War III.

These two stars are back again where their masculine side is brought out. The film provides an action-packed adventure filled with fighting, anticipation and bold and heroic stunts by these two hunks, which will keep you in suspense right up to the vital final minutes. With the recent news coverage on nuclear proliferation, the film tackles this topic’s issue and leaves the viewer expecting the unexpected.

I would rate this film 7/10. It certainly was a film that I didn't expect. Although there are those unrealistic moments in the film, the intense interrogation that takes place in the film will ensure you’re sitting on the edge of your seat. So if you have nothing to do any day of the week, this is a film that is definitely worth seeing.
